About
“No attention is begged and no retinue sought after. I love to sing, so I just sing!”This is what Dylan Pearse does. He sings with a powerful voice, documented at a young age, growing up in the gritty, grey suburbia of Dundalk on Ireland’s east coast. In his formative years, the music of Planxty, The Bothy Band and Paul Brady was played around the house, but at any moment this might see-saw to Queen, Led Zeppelin or, indeed, Glen Campbell or Johnny Cash. The well of influence is remarkably deep, yet he cites Nick Drake, Frank Harte and Anne Briggs among his leading influences. He played guitar for a number of years before stumbling - quite literally - upon the bouzouki which he now claims is one of his favourite instruments to play. He has played throughout Ireland, Scotland and England in clubs and at festivals and has appeared on RTE’s Ceili House on a number of occasions. He also received much acclaim for his delivery of the song ‘Brockagh Braes’ which he sang unaccompanied on the TG4 programme ‘HUP!’.
